Most stents are lattices or meshes of metal alloy, although there are also stents for vascular reinforcement in which the metal mesh supports a fabric lumen. Stents can be “Bare Metal” or “Drug-Eluting”, in which the stent has been coated with a time-release anti-clotting drug to protect the deployment site. Each alloy has its own unique engineering properties.
